    Description

Cole Younger: A Remarkable Signed Document Supporting a Membership Application to the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Partly printed DS, 8.25" x 27", signed on April 5, 1915, just a year before Younger's death. The endorsement is made for Maude Lee Burgess of Kansas City, Missouri, whose grandfather had fought for the Confederacy in the west as a member of Upton Hayes' regiment. Younger likely knew the man as Hayes' unit was associated with Quantrill's Raiders, with whom Cole had ridden.

This large document has excellent display appeal, with the endorsement filled out and boldly signed by Younger. Light aging, expertly restored with professional repair of weaknesses at the fold lines, and minor paper loss-not affecting content.
