    Description

    Cherokee Land Grant in Georgia with Andrew Jackson Pre-Emption Broadside. Includes:

    Cherokee Land Grant in Georgia. Two pages, 8.5" x 11", Cherokee Country, Georgia; May 14, 1846. A document granting E. D. Brown, of Baldwin County, 160 acres on lot No. 62 in Cherokee County. With State of Georgia seal.

    Andrew Jackson Pre-Emption Broadside. One page, 12.75" x 15.5", no place; July 22, 1834. A proclamation following the passage of the 1834 Pre-Emption Act of that year. It reads in part: " That every settler or occupant of the public lands, prior to the passage of this act, who is now in possession and cultivated any part thereof...shall be entitled to all the benefits and privileges provided by the act..."

    Condition: Two circular areas of toning to land grant from seal offsetting while folded with usual tears along old folds. Broadside with 5" and 3" closed tears to integral fold. 2" closed tear along top margin. Both toned and lightly foxed.
