Charles Siringo: Great Content Letter Re:Tom Horn and Others. Siringo, Charles Angelo (1855-1928). Cowboy, rancher, detective, author. Associate or friend of Pat Garrett, Wyatt Earp and Tom Horn. Employee of the Pinkerton Detective Agency, working undercover to infiltrate gangs of robbers and rustlers. Infiltrated Butch Cassidy's Wild Bunch gang and provided intelligence that lead to the capture and subsequent killing of Kid Curry. Wrote several non-fiction books, including: "A Texas Cowboy: Or Fifteen Years on the Hurricane Deck of a Spanish Pony", "A Cowboy Detective" and "Two Evil Isms: Pinkertonism and Anarchism." 4-page Autographed Letter Signed "Dull Knife", Chicago, November 5, 1914, to "Friend Hawks" (Western author William E. Hawks). Written in pencil on four sides of two sheets of lined note paper. The letter deals with the upcoming publication of "Two Isms" and Siringo's concerns of obtaining additional information for the book, verifying the accuracy of its contents and avoiding a libel suit from the Pinkerton Detective Agency who had sought to repress both this work and a previous one. Hired gun Tom Horn is mentioned several times in this "juicy" letter. Some excerpts: "... there will an account of several pages on Tom Horn and the 'Johnson County War'... would like to have had your 'dope' on the 'Johnson County War' as no doubt I could have made it stronger... A friend of mine, now a law officer in New Mexico, who was one of the supposed rustlers out of Johnson County, Wyo., tells me that the hanging of a girl who was supposed to be a rustler started the Johnson County war... Is it true and if so would like to have the right 'dope' on it... I also refer to Nick Remy and Nate Champions murder. Seems to me one or both were burnt in their cabin... And I mention that Thompson and White were killed. Also that Jones and Tisdale were killed by Tom Horns half brother Frank Canton... Is it correct?... I only have one copy of 'Two Isms', and a noted lawyer of this city is going over it to pick out any weak points wherein the P.'s might have me up for criminal libel. The penalty, in this state, of which is $500 fine or one year in the county jail. I have been in jail so much as a sleuth that I hardly think a year would kill me, especially if I could get some pie now and then...In the Tom Horn papers I tell of the killing of Willie Nickell and the wounding twice of old man Nickell. This I got from Tom Horn's life..." He concludes by saying that his financial backer on the book is busy making moving pictures and that the resulting delay may enable him to obtain more "facts about Tom Horn and the 'Johnson County War.'"

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
