Charles Lindbergh Signed Front Page. One page, 11.25" x 15.25", New York, May 14, 1927, from the Saturday edition of the New York newspaper Daily Mirror, Vol. III, No. 279. The paper, released one week before his flight to Paris, features a three-quarter page portrait of a smiling Lindbergh with the title "Flyin' Fool Rarin'." Next to his picture, Lindbergh has written to his friend and publicist, Richard "Dick" Blythe: "To Dick/Charles A. Lindbergh." Directly below the picture, the caption reads, in part: "Rarin' to go, 'Flyin' Fool' awaits only good weather for Paris hop...Doesn't Lindbergh's clear, youthful face stir a sense of adventure in you?" The page is mounted to a backing board. Heavily toned; smoothed fold. The ink of the inscription has bled causing it to shadow. From the Richard Blythe Aviation Collection.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
