    Charles Cornwallis Autograph Note Signed Regarding His Finances. One page, 7.375" x 9.25", Dublin Castle, January 23, 1801, to "Messrs Carbonell & Son". It reads, in full: "Gentlemen. I have received your letter dated the 16th instant, I shall write to Lord Burne on the subject, who will, I make no doubt, very soon settle your account. I am, gentlemen, Your most obedient and most humble servant. Cornwallis". Included are two letters written in the 1960s by one of Lord Cornwallis' descendants, four pages (5" x 8") and one page (8" x 10"). The descendant's four-page autograph letter reads, in part: "Contrary to all impressions, our two families [the Cornwallises and the Washingtons] were great friends in ancient days before Lord C &G.W. met in battle. I fancy there was no enmity even after that...". The descendant's one-page typed letter, regarding an invitation to celebrate New Jersey's Tri-centennial, reads, in part: "I am not sure that my noble ancestor played a big part in New Jersey...".
