"Buffalo Bill" Cody: 1896 Autograph Letter Signed [ALS]. 8.5" x 11" letter on "Buffalo Bill's Wild West" pictorial letterhead, Freeport, Illinois, August 22, 1896, to George Beck, the construction manager of Cody's irrigation and canal project in Wyoming. In full: "I am bankrupting myself to keep the credit of co. any where near good. I know that I am paying you and a clerk good salaries. And I ask you by letter time and again to give me some idea of how much work has been done, where the work is now, how much of the Red bluff has been done, how long will it take you with your present force to get around bluff. have asked you to give me your ideas or suggestions as General Manager. have asked you about a contract. All of which you treat with silent contempt. Is this right, is it even politeness? Very truly yours, W. F. Cody, President." Some ink stains and smears, as shown. Very fine overall. Sold together with a 7" x 9" campaign "poster" for George Beck as "Democratic Candidate for Governor" of Wyoming (toned).
