Project Mercury Flown U.S. and Hawaii Flags. 5.75" x 4" U.S. flag and 6.25" x 4" Hawaii state flag affixed to 13.25" x 10.25" board upon which has been neatly penned: "These flags flew in space/ aboard Faith '7'/ June 3-5, 1965" and "Presented to:/ MSgt. Joe D. Garino, USAF/ By/ Astronaut Col. Gordon Cooper, USAF," signed in ink "Gordon Cooper." Signature a bit light. The date is wrong; it should be "May 15-16, 1963." Cooper attended the University of Hawaii and presented this to Garino whose home state was Hawaii. He had set an endurance record on this mission by logging 34 hours in space, more than all five previous Mercury astronauts combined! Framed to 17" x 14". Flags flown in space during Project Mercury are rare and extremely desirable. Accompanied by a one page, 8" x 10.5", Typed Letter Signed "Gordon Cooper," to Joe Garino, stating "This American and Hawaiian flag flew aboard Mercury Atlas 'Faith VII'..." From the collection of renowned former physical trainer of the astronauts Joe Garino. This lot is accompanied by a signed certificate of authentication from Garino verifying its provenance.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
