    More Information: Charles Eisenmann (1855-1927) was a German-born immigrant to New York City in the 1870s, where he operated a photography studio in the Bowery during the 1880s. He is best known for photographing the famous "freaks" of the day dressed in the Victorian style popular the time and his subjects included Jojo the Dog-Faced Boy, Myrtle Corbin, Ruth Goshen, General Tom Thumb, Eng and Chang Bunker, et al. A number of his images have been catalogued by modern science for their depictions of genetic mutations and abnormalities such as dwarfism, albinism, microcephaly, obesity, and even tattooing.
