    Description

Paul Calle: "The Great Moment" Limited Edition Lithograph (26 of 56 AP) Signed by Four Moonwalkers. A 37" x 24.5" Artist Proof print of a painting by Calle of Neil Armstrong's first step on the moon. The original painting was signed by Armstrong and his signature is visible at lower left in this reproduction. Paul Calle was a legendary space artist, one of a handful chosen by NASA to document the race to the moon but the only one who was actually with Armstrong in the hours prior to launch. This dramatic print has been beautifully signed by four moonwalkers, all in bold gold paint pen, as follows: "This Great Journey/ Started with/ This Single Step/ Alan Bean/ Apollo 12" (Bean drew a Command/ Service Module to hide a mistake he made in the inscription), "A Great Beginning/ Edgar Mitchell/ Apollo 14", "What a View, What a Place!/ Charlie Duke/ Apollo 16", and "The Reality/ of Dreams.../ Gene Cernan/ Apollo XVII/ 'Last... on Moon'". This would look great on your office or den wall. Very fine condition, stored rolled.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
