    Oklahoma Territory: 1883 Document Signed by U.S. Marshal Thomas Boles Regarding the Killing of a Suspect who Resisted Arrest. On one side is the signed deposition of Deputy Marshal West Martin, who attempted the arrest. He applies for $54 in reimbursement from the Court, which is endorsed by Boles. Martin states: "(We) went to South Canadian Switch where we attempted to arrest John Green. Green resisted arrest by firing upon me with a revolver the shot taking effect in my left leg above the knee. We returned fire mortally wounding Green and he has since died." Marshal Boles would go on to serve in the U.S. Congress, where he secured an appropriation of $150,000 to establish the Arkansas Industrial University at Fayetteville. 8.25" x 14", and in excellent condition.
