Eagle Scout Neil Armstrong Answers a Request to Speak at a Boy Scout Banquet.

Neil Armstrong Typed Letter Signed as Professor of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. One page, 8.5" x 11", University of Cincinnati letterhead, July 12, 1976, Cincinnati, Ohio, to Mr. Kenneth L. Dayton. Armstrong replies to a request for a speaking engagement, in part: "Thank you for your kind invitation to participate in the forthcoming Kootaga District Boy Scout Order of the Arrow banquet. I have reviewed my schedule for that time period and find that it will be impossible for me to accept your request..." Signed in blue ink.

An active participant in the Boy Scouts as a boy, Armstrong earned the rank of Eagle Scout. As an adult, he was honored by the organization by receiving both the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award and the Silver Buffalo Award. Tough to locate in TLS form, this is particularly desirable for its Scout mention. Extra fine condition with flattened original mailing folds.
