    Mercury Program: Collection of Thirteen Astronaut-Signed Covers. Unless otherwise noted, all covers are "Project Mercury" (Scott #1193) First Day Covers cancelled at Cape Canaveral on February 20, 1962. This was the day of John Glenn's three-orbit flight on Friendship 7. Lot includes autographs of five of the seven original Mercury astronauts, as follows:
    Scott Carpenter: Two covers, one single and one block of four, both signed: "Scott Carpenter".
    Gordon Cooper: Two covers, one single and one U.S.S. Kearsarge Recovery Team cover (addressed), both signed: "Gordon Cooper".
    John Glenn: Six covers, two singles (one with cachet) and four blocks of four, all signed: "Best regards-/ J H Glenn, Jr."
    Wally Schirra: One cover, single, signed: "W M Schirra Jr".
    Deke Slayton: Two covers, singles, both signed: "D K Slayton".
    All covers are in excellent condition.
