    Mary Ashton Livermore, American Women's Rights Activist, Autograph Quote Signed "Mary A. Livermore". One page, 5" x 3.25". Melrose, Massachusetts, December 10, 1879. Ms Livermore quotes a poem by Ellen Sturgis Hooper. She writes, in part: "I slept, and dreamed that life is Beauty -/ I woke and found that life is Duty."/ "Was thy dream then a shadowy lie?/ Toil on, sad heart, courageously,/ And there shall find thy dream to be/ A noonday light and truth to thee." Slightly faded, else fine. From the Judith Kaplan Women's History Collection.
