    Description

    Martin Buber Autograph Letter Signed "Martin Buber." One page both sides, 5.5" x 8.5", Heppenheim, Germany, November 16, 1934, in German, to "Herr Koch". The eminent Jewish philosopher writes, in part: "I am very sorry that I was away during your visit and that I did not have a chance to see you. I hope there will be another occasion to soon see each other. I would really like to meet your cousin, it has been such a long time that I have not been to Ober-Hambach and have no idea when I will be able to visit there again." During this period Buber was serving as an honorary professor at the University of Frankfurt. In 1938, under pressure from the Nazis, he left Germany and settled in Jerusalem. Fine condition.
