    John Paul Getty Archive. This lot consists of 49 items, including typed letters, Xeroxes, handwritten letters, carbon copies, notes, and manuscripts. Some of the letters are written to or from Mr. John Paul Getty himself, while others are written by Bela von Block, A.C. Spectorsky, Hugh Hefner, and Milly Zimmerman. The majority of the lots focus on Getty's dealings with Playboy Magazine, and the articles he wrote for them. Getty is most famous for his successful oil business, Getty Oil Company, and his books about getting rich. The lot features several manuscripts written by Getty, with titles such as, How Real Is Real Estate?, Gyps In The Night, and How Would I Start Again Today? As a noted industrialist and businessman, articles like this would be highly regarded and enjoyed by the magazines readers.
    Also included in the lot is a letter that Getty wrote to Hugh Hefner, it reads in part, "It was indeed kind of you to remember my birthday, and I am rather at a loss for words to express my gratitude for your lavish and beautiful gift." The gift he speaks of is discussed in several letters, in this lot, between employees of Playboy This lot is full of documents and papers just waiting to be fully delved into. The Playboy organization is one of the most successful magazines in existence. Its long and illustrious history can be explored within the documents of this archive.

    Documents in this lot are in very fine to fine condition; most have the usual folds; some contain staples and or tape; slight tearing is present on some of the carbon copies. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
