Important Amelia Earhart Typed Note Signed "Amelia Earhart", one page, 3" x 8", penciled date "8-8-36." America's "First Lady of the Air" took possession of her ill-fated Lockheed Elektra in July,1936 and busied herself with preparations for what was to prove her last flight. Licensing the craft and setting up communications frequencies would have been among Earhart's top pre-flight priorities and is the subject of this document. This note appears to be a postscript clipped from the bottom of a full-page letter. It reads: "The application is enclosed herewith, signed according to instructions. May I call attention to the fact that the aircraft license number above is incorrect and does not correspond with that in the application? The correct designation is R 16020, also, the call letters given me by wire were KHAQQ, not KHAQJ as above. Will you wire me collect which is correct on receipt of this?" In addition to the signature, there is a a brief line in Earhart's hand reading "Address at present - Union Air Terminal Burbank, Calif." This is an incredibly exciting Earhart item since the R 16020 mentioned appears on photos of her Elektra and the call letters KHAQQ appear in transcripts of Earhart's final communications before her disappearance. Evenly aged with a bold signature. The note comes with a period FCC envelope and a typed sheet giving the particulars of her radio call letters and plane's number. The sheet is lightly aged whereas the envelope shows considerable aging and foxing.
