Description
George Armstrong Custer: Libbie Custer signed Pamphlet and Biography of Captain George W. Yates. Brooklyn Eagle Press pamphlet that was produced for the "Westchester- Hudson River - West point" region, 11 pages, 6" x 9", with a Matthew Brady portrait of 7th Cavalry Commander George Armstrong Custer on the front cover. It is boldly signed "For Mr. S. D. Green, from Elizabeth B. Custer". Also included is a written biography, in the hand of Libbie Custer, about Captain George W. Yates. He met Custer in Monroe, MI and became close personal friends. He served with Custer during the Civil War, and was KIA at Little Big Horn while serving with the 7th Cavalry. The 6 page bio goes into the history of his military service during the Civil and Indian Wars. Libbie writes "he served with Genl Custer through all the Indian campaigns....made the last stand on the 25th of June 1876, where the three hundred were annihilated". Comes with other related letters. There are some folds and few splits, else fine.Auction Info
