    Description

"To Roger Chaffee, My cohort in cosmos- Best wishes and happy (lunar) landing."

Gemini and Apollo Program Astronauts Signed Individual Color NASA Glossy Photos from the Personal Collection of Astronaut Roger Chaffee. A collection of seven photos signed to a member of their own elite group. A very poignant grouping, especially regarding some of the inscriptions, as three of these men died in tragic training mishaps before Chaffee. All are in wonderful condition and have purple ink captions on the verso (except as noted below). As follows:
Theodore Freeman (1930-1964)- An 8" x 10" business suit pose photo with red-letter photo ID number "NASA S-63-20051". Signed: "Ted Freeman". Low contrast.
Elliot See (1927-1966)- An 8" x 10" business suit pose photo with black-letter photo ID number "NASA S-62-7961". Signed: "With best regards,/ Roger, in expectation/ of many years of/ interesting and/ successful work/ together-/ Elliot See".
Charles Bassett (1931-1966)- An 8" x 10" business suit pose photo with red-letter photo ID number "NASA S-63-20059". Signed: "To Rog---/ Many happy landings/ Charlie/ Bassett". Fair contrast to signature. There are some surface flaws on this photo that could likely be professionally repaired.
Donn Eisele (1930-1987)- An 8" x 10" business suit pose photo with black-letter photo ID number "NASA S-63-20053". Signed: "To Roger Chaffee,/ My cohort in cosmos-/ Best wishes and/ happy (lunar) landing-/ Donn Eisele".
James McDivitt- An 8" x 10" business suit pose photo with black-letter photo ID number "NASA S-62-7962". Signed: "Best Wishes/ to Roger Chaffee/ James A. McDivitt". Blank verso.
Rusty Schweickart- An 8" x 10" business suit pose photo with blue-letter photo ID number "NASA S-63-20062". Signed: "To Roger Chaffee:-/ The next to youngest astro-/ from/ Rusty Schweickart/ the youngest astro". Rusty was a little more than eight months younger than Chaffee.
Walt Cunningham- An 8" x 10" business suit pose photo with red-letter photo ID number "NASA S-63-20061" (faded). Signed: "To Roger in hopes/ of many years of/ rewarding work/ together,/ Walt".

Included with these photos is a signed letter of authenticity from Martha Chaffee, the widow of the late Roger Chaffee, attesting to their origination in her husband's treasured collection of signed NASA photographs.
