Gemini 5 Crew-Signed Color Photo and Gordon Cooper Signed Mission Typescript. Two uncommon and desirable items from America's third manned Gemini flight, a record-setting eight day mission. As follows.
    (1) A 10" x 8" NASA litho print of the two in their spacesuits, signed: "Charles Conrad Jr" and "Gordon Cooper". Contrast just a bit light, very fine.
    (2) An 8.5" x 11" mission summary typescript on NASA letterhead, signed "Gordon Cooper" at close as Commander. Full text as seen below. Excellent.

"Gemini V, the third manned mission in the Gemini program, was launched on August 21, 1965, under the control of Commander L. Gordon Cooper, Jr. And pilot Charles Conrad, Jr. The mission of eight days and twenty-one hours established a new world record for the longest spaceflight having completed 120 orbits, and gave the United States their first record in spaceflight as it broke the record previously held by the USSR.

"Despite the ultimate success of the Gemini V mission, frequent problems threatened its completion. Beginning with the malfunctioning of a fuel cell that supplied electricity, and then the malfunctioning of the guidance rockets as well as other problems, the astronauts were forced to make mid-flight repairs in space for the first time. As a result of these malfunctions, computer errors forced Gemini V to land a hundred miles off its original course.

"The difficulties that Astronauts Cooper and Conrad overcame accentuated the ingenuity of NASA to solve problems and remain a vital factor in space exploration. Finally, and of significant importance, they were able to prove that human beings can live in space for the time required to make the journey to the moon and to return back to Earth."
