    Frederick Douglass Deed of Trust Signed "Fredk Douglass" as recorder of deeds. One page, 3.5" x 8.5", Washington, June 23, 1885. Douglass was appointed to numerous federal jobs, in this case as recorder of deeds for the District of Columbia. Here he records the land indenture between Leo Simmons and William F. Geyer. With a postcard featuring a photograph of an elderly Douglass and an engraving titled "The Proclamation of Emancipation."

    More Information: Born into slavery, there was no one more powerful or suitable to champion the American abolitionist movement than Frederick Douglass. He was a supporter of equality for all persons regardless of their skin color.
