Description

Financier Cyrus W. Field Signed Check and Engraved Portrait. The check, measuring 7.25" x 2.25", orders payment of $200 dollars to Alice D. Field, drawn on The National City Bank, New York City, September 23, 1878. One punch hole, one cross cancellation, and three small pinholes. With an engraved portrait of Field (1819-1892), best-remembered today for laying the first telegraph cable across the Atlantic Ocean, below which is found a printed signature.
