Elizabeth Cady Stanton Autograph Letter Signed "Elizabeth Cady Stanton." on the verso of a postcard. 5" x 3", n. p, June 29 (n. y.), to Alfred E. Hammer in which she writes in part: "'The Woman Suffrage History' just published by Fowler & Wells...get your neighbors to read it. I think you would specially enjoy the last chapter 'Woman Under the Church.'" Even toning, else very fine. Together with anti-suffrage broadside protesting the printing of The Woman's Bible. One page, 9.5" x 16.5", n. p, n. d. Elizabeth Cady Stanton wrote The Woman's Bible as a direct challenge to the religious doctrine that women were lesser beings compared to men and were merely property and subservient beings. Suffrage opponents viewed this Bible as blasphemy and printed this broadside to tie as many suffrage leaders as possible to the Stanton bible. Mentioned on the broadside are several Suffrage leaders including Mrs. Robert Ingersoll and Alice Blackwell. Some staining at the bottom, else fine. Also included in this group is an engraving of Stanton, done late in life.
