    Complete Collection of Postal Covers Signed By The Mercury Seven, all 9.5" x 4" and cancelled at Hampton, Virginia on October 20, 1959. The covers carry a 4-cent stamp, a color image of a given astronaut, a hand-drawn sketch of a rocket, a quote attributed to the subject and, of course, his signature. An address label for a Robert Quintero of Detroit is also on the front of each cover. The celebrated "Mercury Seven" were NASA's first astronauts, being selected in April, 1959. They included Scott Carpenter, Gordon Cooper, John Glenn, Virgil Grissom,Walter Schirra, Alan Shepard, and Donald Slayton. The space race was on! An excellent grouping of American heroes. Very fine condition.
