Cole Younger: Fine Handwritten Pencil Letter with Large, Bold Signature. The companion piece to the adjacent Younger lot. Written on March 31, 1901, almost exactly 2 years after the other letter, it was also addressed to Senator Daly, and thanks him for his ongoing efforts to secure the Younger brothers release.

"Many thanks for the kind words and let me assure you and all the Noble Members of the Senate and House and all friends that we appreciate your good work in behalf of humanity with all our heart. And time will frame whether we were worthy or not," Younger wrote. This letter was also sent from Stillwater Prison and is accompanied by the original mailing envelope, hand addressed to Daly in Younger's hand. A few months later the brothers would finally receive their long-sought parole. "Life on the outside" apparently did not suit Jim Younger; he committed suicide the following year. In 1903 Cole Younger capitalized on his notoriety, travelling the country with his former partner in crime in the Cole Younger and Frank James Wild West Company. A fine offering of a rare Western outlaw signature. Excellent condition, with one minor archival tape reinforcement on verso noted for accuracy. 7.5" x 9.25".
