Clara Barton Sympathy Quote Signed "Clara Barton". One page, 5.5" x 7", on The National First Aid Association of America letterhead, June 13, 1907, to a Mrs. Whitney. Ms Barton comforts a friend with sympathetic prose, writing in full: "The troubled heart knows its own woes, and who shall measure them? Sympathy! How poor a word; and yet language has no better save the unheard language of the heart. Accept this, then, I pray you dear Mrs. Whitney from your friend Clara Barton". Slightly toned with a modest stain in the upper margin which doesn't affect the text, and with a central fold crease, otherwise the ink remains bright and the overall condition is excellent. From the Judith Kaplan Women's History Collection.
