Charlie Siringo: An Important Grouping Including Letter in Which He Discusses Gun Fighting Styles of "Billy the Kid" and John Wesley Hardin. The handwritten 1927 letter is in response to a letter he received asking about which of the famous gunfighters could shoot two pistols simultaneously. He states that Billy "was not a two gun man [but] John Wesley Hardin was one of them." He goes on to discuss the technique of firing from the hip "with a view of hitting the opponent at the waist line." This could be done quickly, but only at close range. He talks about a Texas blacksmith's son who won a $250 bet by drawing two powder and ball pistols and killing six quail out of a flock before they could take flight. "I was near where this bet was won," he writes, "but I didn't see it." A terrific letter by the legendary Texas writer, signed in full "Chas. A. Siringo".

Also included: (1) An 8" x 10" original photo of Siringo with William S. Hart; (2) Cabinet card from Caldwell, Kansas purportedly showing a young Siringo and his wife; (3) Advertising postcard for one of Siringo's books, with Will Rogers endorsement; and (4) Small advertising flyer for Siringo's book, Riata and Spurs. A terrific group of items for this Texas legend.
