    Charles Pellegrino's Chariots for Apollo: The Untold Story Behind the Race to the Moon Signed Book with Original Photo Archive as Used for Illustrations. Paperback book (New York: Avon Books, 1999), signed on the full title page "Charles Pellegrino", 320 pages, 5.25" x 8", color cover. "A detailed and very human account of the greatest of all human odysseys so far... You virtually live it yourself - Isaac Asimov". This was the first book to bring the Apollo Lunar Module engineers to the public. The lunar module was the world's first true spaceship, meant to fly entirely in space, with no capability for returning through the atmosphere. Very fine condition.

    Also included in this lot are twenty-eight original 5" x 7" B&W (24) and color (4) photos that were used as illustrations for this edition of the book. Included are photos of Wernher von Braun on the porch of Grumman's first aluminum LTA mock-up, and of all stages of LM design, development, and construction. The set includes a signed cover letter from the publisher and extensive publisher's notes on the back of each photo. Excellent condition.
