    Elsie Janis (1889-1956) was known as "The Sweetheart of The A.E.F." for her efforts in entertaining troops during World War I. She wrote screenplays and authored more than fifty songs and was one of the stars of "The Vanderbilt Cup" of 1917. She was known as one of the most outstanding mimics of her day, but she was likewise an all-around revue artist. Her material includes: a small Autographed Note Signed ELSIE JANIS dated January 10th 1939 " present I am swamped by this ‘come back’ stuff–will you be a dear and ring me up in a couple of weeks...", small snapshot of Janis, Ramon Navarro, Douglas Fairbanks & Mary Pickford, 6 x 4" photo of Janis in the green room and 6 x 8" publicity still of Janis and Chevalier from "Hello America." Other items include: 8 x 10" APS Mrs. KATE DOUGLAS WIGGIN with inscription " of Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm at the Columbia Theatre", 7 x 9" APS IRENE BORDONI (a fine early view), ALS STUART ROBSON (noted comedian and producer), New York, May 19, 1891, to actress Amy Busby in regard to her request to play the part of "Rose" in a Robson production ("I can say nothing definite in respect to Rose–next seasons negotiations now pending with other parties may result in a radical re-casting of my several plays...") with "endorsement" on verso by Busby saying she did get to play Rose after all, 1891 program for Robson’s "She Stoops to Conquer" with Busby as Miss Neville and a Newsboy cabinet card of Busby.
