Archive of Material related to Bonnie & Clyde accomplice Blanche Barrow. A fine collection of material from the estate of Blanche Caldwell Barrow, the widow of Clyde Barrow's brother Buck who was convicted and sentenced to prison after her capture in a shootout in Iowa in 1933. During that incident, she was blinded in her left eye from injuries sustained by flying glass. She was paroled in 1939 for good behavior; she lived the remainder of her days in Dallas and died at the age of 77 in 1988. This collection includes material mostly related to the end of her life and consists of sixteen pieces including deeds, land titles, and other documents. Of interest is an original copy of her last will and testament, a Typed Document "Blanche Bennie Frasure" signed twice and three additional times with initials, three pages, 8.5" x 14", Henderson County, Texas, March 19, 1987. Many of the other documents, dating from the mid-1980s deal with real estate as well as Blanche's funeral arrangements. One piece in the collection, however, falls just a bit earlier... in 1939: it is an offer by one Frank E. Bronaugh in a Typed Letter Signed. One page, 8.5" x 11", Sherman, Texas, March 30, 1939 offering to tell her life's story in a book: "...I am a writer for fact story magazines, and I recently read of your release from Missouri prison. Here's my offer: Write a long account, in your own words... when he story is published... I will mail you a check for $25..." We imagine that Warren Beatty's offer was a bit more generous! A fine collection of material from the last surviving member of the Barrow Gang. Overall very good to very fine condition.
