Apollo 8 Large Signed Famous "Earthrise" Color Photograph, 19" x 15" matted to 19.5" x 15.5", framed to 21.5" x 17.5". Inscribed "To Joe/ Many Thanks/ For All Your/ Help During Our/ Training For This-/ Bill Anders," also signed "Frank Borman" and "James Lovell." The Borman and Lovell signatures are very light and the photo is a bit faded. Anders autograph is one of the scarcest of all Apollo astronauts. The Apollo 8 patch is affixed at the lower right. Apollo 8 was the first manned mission to the moon and the first to photograph the Earth from deep space. As the command module rounded the far side of the moon, the crew could look toward the lunar horizon and see the Earth appear to rise, due to their spacecraft's orbital motion. This photograph shows that magnificent view. From the collection of renowned former physical trainer of the astronauts Joe Garino. This lot is accompanied by a signed certificate of authentication from Garino verifying its provenance.
