Apollo 11 Crew-Signed Photo on Splashdown Cover Signed by the Recovery Pilot and President Richard Nixon. An oversized (7.5" x 3.875") uncacheted cover cancelled onboard the U.S.S. Hornet on July 24, 1969. The cover itself is signed by the president, "Richard Nixon", who was on board the ship to greet the crew, and by Donald S. Jones, "D S Jones/ CDR, USN/ Recovery Pilot", the helicopter pilot who picked up the crew from the Pacific Ocean,. At the left is an attached 3.25" x 3.5" color photo of the helicopter landing on the deck of the Hornet, signed by the crew: "Buzz Aldrin", "M Collins", and "Neil Armstrong". A significant and rare memento of this historic occasion, the return to earth of the first men to land and walk on the moon. Excellent condition with the contrast on the Armstrong signature just a little light.
