Patch Flown Aboard the Apollo 10 LM "Snoopy" Around the Moon.

Apollo 10 Lunar Module Flown Embroidered Crew Patch Originally from the Collection of Mission Commander Thomas P. Stafford. This 4" x 4.5" shield-shaped patch pictures a large Roman numeral "X" sitting on the moon, the Earth in the background, the Command Module Charlie Brown in orbit, and the Lunar Module Snoopy flying up from its low pass over the moon. It is mounted to an 8.5" x 11" Letter of Authenticity from Stafford on the letterhead of his Stafford, Burke and Hecker, Inc. technical consulting firm and states, in full: "This cloth patch was carried to the moon on the Apollo X flight. The mission was flown from May 18 to 26, 1969. The patch flew to within 50,000 feet of the lunar surface in our Lunar Module named Snoopy. I commanded the first flight of the Lunar Module to the Moon where my crew successfully demonstrated techniques needed to accomplish the firs lunar landing mission of July 1969. Over one billion viewers on Earth watched the first color television from space and lunar orbit during the flight. This patch has been in my private collection since 1969." It is signed in full at the close. Apollo 10 was a very important mission, a "dress rehearsal" for the upcoming moon landing. This was one of Stafford's four space missions along with Gemini 6A, Gemini 9A, and the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project. Excellent condition.
