    Description

    Amelia Earhart Autograph Letter Signed "Amelia Earhart." One page, 5.75" x 9.5", Cincinnati, Ohio; April 25, 1929. Written on Hotel Sinton letterhead, a thank you letter from Earhart to the "Baker of the Cake." It reads in full: "One of the most gracious details of my welcome to Cincinnati was the gift of your beautiful cake. Thank you for being so kind to one who comes as a stranger into this city." Beside the salutation at the top has been written in pencil, "J. Fesch's". Later this year, Earhart would go on to participate in the August Women's Air Derby (the "Powder Puff Derby") and become a founding member of the Ninety-Nines, an international organization of licensed female pilots.

    Condition: Flattened mail folds with additional light creasing at the corners. There is a small amount of contemporary paper residue at the upper right and lower left corners.
