Al Capone Loan Signed Twice "Alphonse Capone." 7.5" x 2.25" (sight), Chicago; November 18, 1926. A loan document, No. 6223, that reads in part: "Due to the order of Ourselves...$45.00 in gold coin of the United States of America of the present standard of weight and fineness, on the 18th day of November A.D. 1930 without grace, at the office of Lawndale National Bank in the City of Chicago...with interest after maturity until paid, at the rate of seven percent, per annum, being for an installment of interest on our principal and note No. 5. being of even date herewith for the sum of $1500.00." Countersigned by Theresa Capone and Mae Capone, Al Capone's mother and wife. All three have also signed the back of the document, which can be seen in the custom dual-paned frame. Matted and framed along with a black and white portrait of Capone to the overall size of 19.25" x 12.5".Al Capone (1899-1947), also known as "Scarface", was an American gangster who rose to power in Chicago during the 1920s and Prohibition era. His crime syndicate successfully operated for seven years before Capone was eventually imprisoned for tax evasion in 1931.
Condition: With multiple cancellation holes punched, minimally affecting Capone's signature on the front and not at all on verso. Two holes and soiling at the top left from a removed staple.
