Writing to Michael Gross, the Nobel Prize laureate discusses the first microchip, "a very simple device. It was intended to show that many components could be built on a single semiconductor wafer, rather than for any specific purpose." The signed card measures 3.75" x 2.25". With the original transmittal envelope and a photograph of Kilby.
