[Noah B. Orr] Carte de Visite of Noah B. Orr, the "Union County Giant", 2.5" x 4". Very fine.

    More Information:

Colonel Orr, born in 1836, was a featured performer in the Soapy Jones Theatrical Troupe, the Lilliputian Opera Company, and Barnum's Museum where he was billed as the "World's Tallest Man". A member of the Knights of Pythias, the Masons, and Independent Order of Red Men, Orr is pictured in fraternal regalia. When he died in 1882, Orr was laid to rest in a specially built coffin 7 feet long, 37 ½ inches wide and 2 feet deep. It was too large for a hearse and had to be carried on an oversized platform wagon fitted with a huge catafalque. He was survived by his wife and six large children.
