    [Marlene Dietrich]. Sarah Bernhardt Autograph Letter Signed. Two pages, 7.5" x 4.75" (sight), on black-bordered stationery with her monogram. A letter to artist Auguste Rodin, in French. Accompanied by the original transmittal envelope addressed in her hand, "Monsieur Rodin."

    This letter was gifted to Marlene Dietrich by the French actor Jean Gabin. According to the consignor, who received the piece from Dietrich, she greatly admired Bernhardt. The letter is in the original frame it was presented in. Consigned together with the Hemingway letter to Dietrich, presented in this auction as Lot 49208.

    Condition: Front of letter has a bit of sunning, mainly affecting black trim. Envelope has a few spots of staining. Framed with double glass to an overall size of 10.5" x 12/5".
