[Julius J. Rosenburg]. Copy of Rockwell Kent's This Is My Own Signed by the Author and Former Owner, Julius Rosenburg. New York: Duell, Sloan and Pearce, [1940]. Signed by Julius Rosenburg at the upper right corner of the front free endpaper. The author, Rockwell Kent, has also signed in the middle of the same page. 8vo, xiii; 393 pages. Illustrated throughout by the author. Publisher's original binding shows areas of light soiling, particularly along the spine. Minor chipping to some of the pages. The page on which Rosenburg and Kent have signed is moderately toned.

This copy of artist Rockwell Kent's autobiography was originally owned by Julius J. Rosenburg (1918-1953), an American citizen who was, along with his wife, Ethel, tried, convicted, and ultimately executed for espionage and passing on secrets to the Soviet Union. Sometime before his death, Rosenburg gave the book to leftist lawyer, Victor Rabinowitz (1911-2007), a one-time member of the American Communist Party, who had advised Rosenburg on legal matters, albeit unofficially. The book was then given to the present owner by Rabinowitz. It is unclear when the author signed the book, but he is known to have been a client of Rabinowitz's law firm. Rockwell Kent (1882-1971) was also believed to have been a Communist, a charge which he always denied.
