[Doolin Gang (Wild Bunch)] Oklahoma Territory August 1896 Posse Document Written and Thrice-Signed by Frank M. Canton (aka Joe Horner). One page, 7.875" x 12.5" (sight size), a partly printed document filled in by hand, Oklahoma Territory, August 12, 1896. An affidavit for payment stating that "H McCann" spent four days riding as a member of a posse in an attempt to capture members of the Doolin Gang including "Bill Dolan [sic]", "Dynamite Dick [Clifton]", and others, stating that they rode into "Osage County" in the endeavor. The document further states he will be paid $3 per day as a posse member and is signed by Canton and others. Most of the document is in Canton's hand; it is also signed by P. S. Nagle as U.S. Marshal. A very historic document as it relates to the famous Doolin Gang, all of whom were eventually killed in gun battles with lawmen. Handsomely framed to an overall 17.5" x 23". Very fine.
