Description

Carrie Chapman Catt Autograph Letter Signed "Carrie Chapman Catt". One page, on International Woman Suffrage Alliance letterhead, 8.25" x 11", New York, May 15, [nd], to Benjamin Fay Mills, Los Angeles, California. In this letter Ms Catt informs Mills (a reverend and noted social reformer) that she has no plans for coming to California but she hopes "some of our women may be able to go from the Portland Convention, and that a woman's congress may be held." The letter bears the usual fold creases, with one trivial closed tear at the right edge, and has some modest toning, otherwise it is in very good condition. The letter is accompanied by a small four page printed pamphlet, 5" x 7", with President Woodrow Wilson's thoughts on woman's suffrage. From the Judith Kaplan Women's History Collection.
