    Calvin Coolidge Document Signed as President. One page, 9.75" x 14", Washington, August 18, 1925, countersigned by Frank B. Kellogg as Secretary of State. The document conveys Coolidge's best wishes to Augusto B. Leguia upon assumption of Presidency of the Republic of Peru. Minor soiling along the edges and two filing holes in the left margin, otherwise in fine condition with strong, bold signature from both Coolidge and Kellogg.

    More Information:

    It reads, in part: "I cordially reciprocate the sentiments you express for the continuance of the friendly relations which have heretofore existed between the United States and Peru, and I assure Your Excellency of my best wishes for Your personal welfare and for the prosperity of the Republic over which you have been called to preside." Leguia was Peru's President from 1908 until 1912. After a seven year hiatus he successfully ran for the office again. His last term ended with the overthrow of his government in 1930.
