Buzz Aldrin: Handwritten Student Paper on the Army Football Team from His Senior Year at West Point. "Edwin E. Aldrin". Five pages, 8.5" x 11", college-ruled notebook paper, United States Military Academy at West Point, October 30, 1950, class paper on football, turquoise ink. Aldrin writes his name at the top of each page "Cadet Aldrin, E E" Signed at the conclusion of the text, "Edwin E. Aldrin". Titled "The Warrior's Sport", Aldrin focuses his attention on West Point's Army football team. Aldrin attributes "the supremacy of West Point on the football field" to the "military attitude" that the Army football coaches instill using "military principles." Aldrin compares various position players on a football team to certain members of the armed forces. For instance, Aldrin argues that the quarterback of the Army football team acts "according to the plans and training of the coach...very much like the actions of the General of the Army in carrying out the policies of the President." The pages show one small crease at the upper left, and one page shows some toning, else very fine condition. A one-of-a-kind class paper from Buzz Aldrin's senior year at West Point.
