Description

Booker T. Washington Group of Four Typed Letters Signed. All on Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute stationery and dated 1901, 1905, or 1906 (one is not dated). All are addressed to the Advertiser of Portland, Maine, and all are signed "Booker T. Washington". Fine.

    More Information:

Freed from slavery as a child during the Civil War, Booker T. Washington (1856-1915) became an author, African-American community leader, and educator. He believed that African-Americans living in a post-Civil War era needed education to climb the economic and social ladder in the United States. At the age of twenty-five, Washington began leading the Tuskegee Institute, making it into an education center dedicated to transforming post-slavery African-Americans into educated, self-sufficient members of American society. The Tuskegee Institute received many of its funds from the contributions of wealthy white patrons in the Northeast. In each letter offered here, Washington asks the editor of the Advertiser to publish parts of various Tuskegee Institute reports for they contain "some matters of special interest."

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
