Benjamin Franklin Autograph Endorsement Signed "B. Franklin" as president of the Supreme Executive Council of Pennsylvania. One page, 7.5" x 11.75", [Philadelphia], December 7, 1787. Franklin served as the sixth president of Pennsylvania, an office similar to that of the modern governor, from 1785-1788. Less than three years before his death, he signs this affidavit in the lower right corner, over the embossed seal. Document is affixed to a mat at two places along the top edge. It bears a few small holes with some short separations. Tape repairs on the verso to tears, mostly along the edge. Areas of discoloration throughout. Affixed along the left edge is later printed Franklin information (3.75" x .75"). The document reads in part:

"Richard Sommers of the City of Philadelphia Merchant and Samuel Sommers of the township of Eggharbor in the County of Glaucester in the State of New Jersey Farmer Severally do solemnly affirm and say, and forth this deponent Richard Sommers says that Joshua Smith of the township County and State aforesaid Merchant dealer and Chapman, who is now within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is justly in debted unto him this deponent in the sum of one hundred and twenty one pounds five shillings and penny. . . . And both the said deponents say, that they verily believe that the said Joshua Smith is become bankrupt."

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
