    Description

The Tombstone and Arizona Territory Collection

Tombstone, Arizona: Three Rare Items Signed by George W. Parsons. Parsons (1850-1933) an attorney raised in Washington, D.C., is famous for the diary he carefully maintained from 1869 through 1929. From 1880 through 1887 he lived and worked in Tombstone in association with John Clum, and throughout those years recorded in detail the events and personalities of Tombstone in its "boomtown" period. Parsons was a member of the Tombstone "Committee of Vigilance," which brought him into regular contact with the Earps, Johnny Ringo, Ike Clanton, John Behar, and other famous personalities. His daily entries regarding the O.K. Corral gunfight and the events which preceded and followed that day are considered among the most significant insights into what took place and the personalities involved. By 1887, Tombstone's glory days were past and Parsons left town. Parts of his diary were later donated to the Arizona Pioneers Historical Society and were published in part by Lynn R. Bailey in his book A Tenderfoot in Tombstone, the Private Journal of George Whitewell Parsons: The Turbulent Years 1880-82.

The lot offered here consists of three items:
    1. An 1887 longhand letter written in the eve of his departure from Tombstone for California,
    2. An 1887 receipt for assessment work, and
    3. An 1887 receipt for services (both to W. J.
All three are in very good condition.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
