    Theodore Dreiser Photograph Signed. The photograph was taken by American painter Charles Sheeler in 1926, likely while he was working for Vanity Fair Magazine. In the top left corner, the novelist writes, "Dear Manuel, Here's your ideal chance to frame me. Regards, Theodore Dreiser." Sepia-toned, 7.25" x 9.25" (sight). Matted to an overall size of 16" x 20".

    More Information: Duringhis three years as a Conde Nast photographer, Sheeler contributed about 60 photographs to Vanity Fair and more than 90 to Vogue. Sheeler came to dread his job as a portrait photographer, likening it to being :like a daily trip to jail." Sheeler is most famous for his paintings of barns and architectural photographs.
