[circa 1863-66], accepting an invitation, but declining the attendance of her husband, Dr. Samuel Howe, "as he rarely goes any where." Howe (1819-1910) was an abolitionist and social activist best-remembered for her poem "The Battle Hymn of the Republic." Folds, else fine.
