    John Steinbeck Autograph Letter Unsigned with Related Letter. One page, 8" x 12.5", no place; January 31, 1963. A short letter to Lawrence Hagy to thank him for received payment for a gun. It reads, in full: "I have your letter with the check for the gun. Thank you for picking it up and sending it. We are in process of selling this house and moving to our new apartment but will probably not be moved before the end of March. And of course we always want to see you when you are in town. All of our love to your expanding family."

    Also included is the letter to which Steinbeck is responding; one page typed, 8.5" x 11", Amarillo, Texas; January 14, 1863. Signed "Hagy", the letter reveals that Lawrence Hagy had sold a gun, on behalf of Steinbeck, to Tom & Roy's Gun & Key Shop for $125.00. The check made out to Steinbeck was for $112.50, as Hagy states he kept $12.50 for commission.

    Condition: The two letters are held together with a small staple. A few small tears around the staple. Slightly uneven top edge of the Steinbeck letter, else very good.
