    Description

John Steinbeck Autograph Letter Signed. One page, 8.5" x 11", plain paper, Pacific Grove [California], July 14 [1935], to Paul Jordan-Smith. An interesting "thank you" letter to the book reviewer at the Los Angeles Times, in part: "For sometime I've been hearing of the good things you have been doing in favor of my work. I want to thank you for them. One thing which may amuse you- my sister went into a Los Angeles bookstore to get a copy of T.F. [Tortilla Flat]. The owner said- 'I don't know anything about this. Paul Jordan Smith said that I had to buy it.'...Perhaps you would care to know that I have just signed a new contract for six books with Covici-Friede...That's all, I guess. I would enjoy meeting you..." Incidentally, you may have heard of one of the books published under the contract he mentions, Of Mice and Men. Very fine condition with mailing folds. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.

You reach a customer base that is in many ways completely unknown to the major auction houses, and your marketing to this base is as professional as one could hope for. As I continue to wind down my holdings.
