Lengthy inscription and verse on front endpaper reads in full: "For / Erasmus Wilson -- With all hale wishes and esteem , --James Whitcomb Riley. / Indianapolis, Ind.,Nov. / --1891-- / ...Receive a thousand songs, / All set to differing times - as full of naught. / As space is full of emptiness." Accompanied by one of the poet's calling cards and three promotional inserts from the publisher, including a biography of Riley. Some soiling to dustjacket otherwise very good to near fine.
